The core of the CircuLeaf system is a sealed 500 ml reservoir located beneath the planting chamber, engineered to supply water continuously and precisely. A network of food-grade capillary wicks extends from the reservoir into the root zone, using natural capillary action to draw moisture upward as the plant requires it. This passive delivery method prevents overwatering and eliminates dry periods, ensuring consistent soil hydration without user intervention.

A capacitive moisture sensor embedded in the soil monitors volumetric water content in real time. When moisture levels fall below a predefined threshold, the system’s LED indicator transitions from green to yellow (caution) and ultimately to red (refill required), guiding the user through a simple refill process. The reservoir’s flip-cap fill port allows for quick replenishment without disturbing the plant or its roots.

By decoupling the water supply from the soil environment, the design reduces fungal and algae growth, conserves water, and lowers maintenance. It enables plant care on a “set and forget” basis—ideal for busy professionals, frequent travelers, or anyone seeking healthier indoor greenery with minimal effort.
